Under his inspired leadership, the PAG-IBIG FUND has grown into one of the strongest financial institutions in the country today, particularly, as the largest provider of mortgage financing.

The fund has likewise continued to maintain a high level of service that should serve as an inspiration to other government agencies.

His effective leadership has been recognized both locally and internationally in 2006.

In October 2006, the fund was conferred the prestigious United Nations Scroll of Honour Award for making the dream of affordable housing a reality for hundreds of thousands of Filipino households. The fund is the first Philippine organization and the first government agency in the country to receive the award.

In the local scene, Atty. Miro Quimbo was recently recognized as one of the outstanding young men in the field of government service, specifically, for the fund’s housing liberalization program, making it accessible to its more than six million members nationwide.

Atty. Quimbo was also elected as the president of the Philippine Social Security Association (PHILSSA), the umbrella organization of the country’s social security agencies composed of the armed forces of the Philippines-Retirement and Separation Benefits System (AFPRSBS), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), Government Service Insurance Corporation (GSIS), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHILHEALTH), Social Security System (SSS) and the PAG-IBIG FUND.

He was the Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO of the PAG-IBIG FUND before he took over the top post at the age of only 33.

Prior to joining the PAG-IBIG FUND, he was among the pioneers of Philippine E-commerce as President and Managing Director of pinoymail.com.

He has also worked at the House of Representatives as Chief of the Legal Staff of Congressman Catalino Figueroa, served as Vice President of Technotrix Philippines Inc., and was an associate at the Poblador, Bautista and Reyes Law Offices.

A native son of Catbalogan Samar, he received his Bachelor of Laws at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, where he also completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. He was a champion debater, team captain of the law debate team, and a distinguished student leader.

He finished his high school studies at the Marist School, Marikina Heights, where he now serves as a member of to: Board of Trustees.

He is married to Stella Alabastro, a professor at the UP School of Economics, and is blessed with three sons.
